Quality of Life

In 2010, Barcelona is, for the 12th consecutive year, the city with the highest quality of life, according to the European Cities Monitor (Cushman&Wakefield).

In terms of sustainability, the city is committed to energy saving and efficiency and a considerable effort has been made by the city council to develop renewable energy sources and electricity self-generation. Barcelona has levels of energy and water consumption per inhabitant that are lower than those of the reference areas.

The compact urban model favours sustainable mobility.

Cultural and educational opportunities are many and of high quality.
