eBay increases its presence with new offices in Barcelona

The American e-commerce company will move to larger offices and create 100 new jobs.

The North American electronic shopping company eBay Enterprise has expanded its presence in Barcelona with the move to larger facilities, situated in the 22@ district, which will occupy 2,200m2 and will mean the creation of 100 new jobs. An investment that has had the support Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia through ACCIÓ's Invest in Catalonia

The president of eBay Enterprise, Craig Hayman, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, together with the executive director of ACCIÓ, Joan Tarradellas, this week inaugurated  the company's new offices. 

Growing international potential 

The company decided to make this move after the company's customers in Europe experienced a growth of 27%  in the level of sales through e-commerce last year. Its Barcelona division provides digital marketing and e-commerce services to other companies. 

According to the Mayor, Xavier Trias, the Catalan capital "is positioning itself as a city of confidence by investors and entrepreneurs" thanks to commitments from companies such as eBay Enterprise. For Mayor Trias, "Barcelona is the emerging capital for electronic commerce for Southern Europe.", and added that " the creation of the e-Commerce & Tech Barcelona Cluster last year" has helped to consolidate and improve digital business in the Catalan capital. 

Last year investment in Catalonia from American companies reached 710 million euros. There are currently more than 600 companies from the US established in Catalonia.
