Barcelona facilitates the landing of UK companies and professionals after the Brexit

Barcelona City Council promotes the so-called "Brexit action plan" to attract productive investment and quality employment from British and non-EU companies.

The Deputy Mayor for Enterprise, Culture and Innovation at City Council, Jaume Collboni, will lead a delegation to visit the British capital in October to meet representatives of the Government, companies, prescribers and local multipliers. Barcelona City Council emphasizes the entrepreneurial talent of the city, the lower cost of offices and premises and the high quality of life that attracts qualified professionals worldwide.

The plan to attract British investment promoted by the City Council therefore focuses on attracting companies, emerging companies, technology entrepreneurs, industrial investment funds, institutions and European Union agencies based in the United Kingdom. The Catalan capital stands to host the European Medicines Agency, taking advantage of the power and the international recognition of the city's pharmaceutical and biomedical clusters. In parallel, the city will position itself as Start-Up City and will offer different services to entrepreneurs seeking collaboration from technology platforms with a presence in London and Barcelona.

The City Council will also provide support to companies requesting information through a dedicated window in the Business Support Office (OAE) in collaboration with ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government Trade & Investment public agency.

UK tour this fall

In order to approach British entities and institutions, a City Council's delegation will visit companies based in London area, companies that already have activity in Barcelona and global companies operating in the European Union in October 2016.
