The registration period for participating in the 5th edition of BioEmprendedorXXI has now opened

The winner will receive economic support for developing their project in the field of life sciences, and a set of training, internationalization and incubation.

Biocat, "la Caixa", Barcelona ActivaGenoma Espańa and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce have started up the 5th edition of BioEmprenedorXXI, a program for the creation of companies within the scope of life sciences in its broadest sense: biotechnology, biomedicine and the agri-food sector. The registration period has opened and ends 13th May.

By participating in the BioEmprenedorXXI programme, within the framework of the Barcelona Growth initiative, it is possible assess and start-up a business idea by preparing a business plan; benefit from training actions, tutors, mentoring and access to funding, and build relationships with the sector's main agents and successful entrepreneurs.

The participants obtain a prize which will facilitate start-up activity, thanks to an award (up to 20,000 Euros) and a set of actions involving training, internationalisation, funding, communication and incubation.

7th May, presentation of the Barcelona Activa programme

The presentation of the 5th edition will take place on Monday, 7th May, at 12 pm, at the Emprčn Hall of the Glňries Entrepreneurship Center of Barcelona Activa. 

As well as including the participation of representatives from the BioEmprenedorXXI promoting bodies, the event will include the presentation of the program's content and a roundtable under the name "Emprendre en el sector de les cičncies de la vida" (Entrepreneurship in the life sciences sector), with the presence of the projects which participated in previous editions. A benchmark programme in Southern Europe within the life sciences sector

Facilitating the transfer of the results obtained from research into the business world and society has been one of the main objectives of the BioEmprenedorXXI programme. Between the 2009 and 2010 editions, the program has accompanied more than 30 (33) business projects, of which 67% have already become companies or are in the process of doing so.

Also, most of the projects (53%) have patents, more than half have marketed products or services and 6 out of 10 are working on an internationalisation plan.
