The World Bank to locate centre for urban technology and innovation in Barcelona

The institution also signed a partnership deal with Barcelona City Council to promote the so-called City Protocol Society.

The World Bank is to create a centre of urban technology and innovation in Barcelona that will make the Catalan capital a benchmark in urban-related innovation and knowledge.

The decision to set up the Innovation Center in Barcelona is thanks to an agreement signed by the Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, and the Wold Bank's Vice President of Sustainable Development, Rachel Kyte, and the World Bank Institute's Vice President, Sanjay Pradhan.

This collaboration agreement also involves promoting the City Protocol Society to share best practices and develop municipal services based on citizen-focused ICTs.
