The Open Society Foundation for Europe will base itself in Barcelona

The philanthropic organisation of George Soros will have its headquarters in the district of Raval.

The European division of the Open Society Foundation, the second largest philanthropic organisation in the world in terms of the volume of donations, will base itself in Barcelona. 

The initiative, promoted since 1984 by George Soros with the aim of financing activities to promote democracy, human rights, civil liberties and the rule of law, will have its headquarters in the Raval district.

The director of the Open Society Foundation for Europe will be Jordi Vaquer, ex-director of the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB), which will also include the world council of the organisation, and which has stated that "for Barcelona, this initiative is an opportunity to regain a major international role in difficult times".
