Social Point's Horacio Martos gets Young Entrepreneur Award 2013

This entrepreneur and fellow finalist Carlota Pi from created their companies at Barcelona Activa's incubator.

Horacio Martos, 28, founder of Social Point, specializes in developing games for social networks. According to an announcement this week, Horacio has won the Young Entrepreneur Award 2013. Given annually by the Independent Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Catalonia (AIJEC), the prize recognizes the best Catalan business person below the age of 41 years. 

Social Point, created in 2008 with the support of Barcelona Activa, took its first steps in the GlÚries Incubator, where it was based for its first three years of life, getting council advice and support to strengthen its business growth potential. 

The awards jury, made up by representatives from various organisations and personalities from the business world and the media, praised Horacio Martos' work for helping to make Barcelona a centre for social games worldwide. 

Carlota Pi at energy sales company, and Pau Bach at Batec Mobility, the first manufacturers of handbikes adapted for wheelchairs in Spain, were finalists in this year's awards, which got a total of 107 applications . 

The award for Best Business Initiative 2013 went to the opticians Palens Barcelona, in recognition of its efforts and hard work in the city of Barcelona and Catalonia .
