Multinational Yaskawa sets up in Gava

The Japanese robotics company doubles the size of its facilities in Catalonia in order to be able to grow in the coming years.

The size of the new headquarters of the Japanese multinational is 1,400m2 divided on two floors and located in Gava, Barcelona. With these new facilities, Yaskawa has doubled in size compared to its old facilities in Sant Boi de Llobregat.

The company wants to use the new location to develop synergies with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), and to encourage innovation and job creation.

Yaskawa, founded in 1915, is one of the leading manufacturers of industrial robots with various applications (welding, cutting, sealing, loading and unloading of machine tools, assembly, painting and manipulation), with over 200,000 units sold worldwide.

Nearly half of all Japanese companies in Spain are located in Catalonia, specifically 140 companies, and in the next three to five years market share is expected to grow specifically throughout the peninsula. These figures confirm the attractiveness of the Catalan region for Asian entrepreneurs.
