Mosaic Biomedicals wins the BioEmprenedorXXI prize

The 'spin-off' from the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology develops personalised therapies against cancer.

The start-up Mosaic Biomedicals has won the fifth BioEmprendedorXXI awards, which are promoted by "la Caixa", the City Council —through Barcelona Activa—, Biocat, Genoma España, FECYT and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.

The spin-off, from the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), has won for its project to develop new personalised therapies which eliminate tumour stem cells and which are based on the real samples of the tumour taken from each patient. This innovation is currently in the pre-clinical phase.

The prize, 20,000 euros in cash, also consists of training, finance, internationalisation and incubation activities as well as preferential conditions for the technological platforms at the Barcelona Science Park.
