Japanese group NTT Communications beefs up operations in Barcelona

One of the largest IT service providers in the world, the company has created 21 jobs thanks new investment, having received advisory services from the Autonomous Regional Government of Catalonia.

NTT Communications, a Japanese ICT and international communications solutions provider has strengthened its position in Catalonia by expanding and consolidating the customer support centre it recently located in Barcelona. Thanks to this expansion, the company has created 21 new jobs and this centre now provides services for the whole of Europe. 

NTT Communications decided to strengthen its presence in Barcelona because it considers the city to be a leader in innovation and technology fields. "Barcelona has a pool of outstanding talent, and it's a knowledge hub that is well positioned internationally, which is a very important point for companies like ours", says NTT Europe head, Roger Vilà. 

The Barcelona centre manages incidents and requests from European customers in 5 languages, 365 days a year. In 2001, NTT Communications started working in Catalonia, and currently it has a staff of almost 200 people at its offices in Madrid and Barcelona. 

Catalonia accounts for 80% of all Japanese multinationals operating in Spain (186 companies) and it boasts one of the highest concentrations of industrial companies from this country; last year it was  Europe's top region in terms of attracting foreign investment from Japan, according to the Financial Times FDI Markets.
