Devicare wins Catalan edition of top entrepreneurship award

Catchoom, a company that was set up in Barcelona Activa's GlÚries Business Incubator, came first runner up in the Emprenedor XXI entrepreneurship awards.

Devicare, a company dedicated to developing innovative solutions for the home treatment and control of chronic diseases, has won the eighth edition of Catalonia's Emprenedor XXI, the entrepreneurship awards promoted by "la Caixa" and Enisa, a Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism agency. With 150 company entries this year, the Catalan edition of these awards was partnered by Barcelona Activa. 

The initiative recognizes the most innovative entrepreneurs in Spain with a prize of 5,000 Äs and enrolment on a University of Cambridge (UK) course. "La Caixa" will also offer Devicare access to a support programme for entrepreneurs developed through ďCaixa Capital RiscĒ. As well, the firm will have the chance to take part in Spanish-wide version of the competition with a prize of 20,000 Ä, and which will be announced in November. 

This European company based in Barcelona was awarded a prize in the last edition of BioEmprenedorXXI, which was launched jointly by Barcelona Activa, "la Caixa" and Biocat to provide support for high-growth potential and innovative business creation in the field of life sciences. Apart from the economic boost that the award represents, the company also received a free lease in the GlÚries business incubator. 

The Emprenedor XXI awards ceremony took place during the BizBarcelona SME and entrepreneurship fair last June 4-5, with Catchoom collecting the runner up prize. This company is located in Barcelona Activa's GlÚries business incubator and it provides cloud image recognition services and augmented reality content creation.
