Barcelona-El Prat Airport smashes passenger records

With over 3.9 million passengers, Barcelona-El Prat recorded more travellers than any other airport in Spain's Aena network during the month of August. Intercontinental passenger numbers grew by 9.5%.

Barcelona-El Prat Airport smashed its passenger records last August with more than 3.9 million travellers, thus becoming the busiest hub in Spain's Aena Airport Authority network in terms of passengers.

To boot, intercontinental passenger numbers grew by 9.5% during the same period. The Catalan airport saw an increase of 8.1% in long-haul flights to 30 destinations. There was also an increase in international travellers (12.95%) and intra-EU passengers (3.75%). Since the start of the year, 12,444,301 passengers passed through the airport, 1.79% more than last year.
