Ten Catalan companies in Silicon Valley with 'Plug&Play Tech Center'

Companies' international expansion made possible thanks to an agreement between Barcelona Activa, the Chamber of Commerce and the technology centre.

Ten Catalan companies are to open for business in Silicon Valley over the course of 2011, thanks to an agreement between the business accelerator Plug & Play Tech CenterBarcelona Activa and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the project, which is in its second year, is to help technology businesses from Barcelona and Catalonia to undertake international expansion by setting up base at the prestigious and innovative technology park in California.  The agreement includes a commitment on the part of Plug & Play to introduce the companies to venture capital firms, universities and important figures from the US ICT industry.

Linqia, Moovida/Fluenda, Nice People at Work and Sienta are the first four of a total of 10 companies that are to set up shop there during the first quarter of the year. The companies were chosen out of a total of 30 firms following a selection process which rated the projects' technological foundations, the suitability of their business model for the US market, and the company's ability to produce and market its products worldwide.
